I remember when my family would go to visit my grandmother, who lived in the mountains. We would sometimes stop along the mountain, at a place where the water would be running down the rocks, and drink to our hearts' content. Us and other travelers. Cold, good tasting water. Or, remember when you could take a refreshing drink from a spring?

Where can you find clean drinking water now? What is the purest drinking water? The answer may be- in your own kitchen.

Clean drinking water is something that every human being and every society on this planet needs. But, is it available, today?

Years ago mountain springs provided the purest drinking water on earth. You have likely seen the ads for bottled water companies that show a waterfall or something similar.

A more accurate representation is a bubbling stream with its source located under a cliff or overhang. Hikers have seen them, but most people are unaware.

They seem to think that clean drinking water flows out of their taps by magic. Even though, they throw trash on the ground or in a stream. They don't understand the end result.

Our groundwater has been contaminated by industries and the population, alike. Even mountain springs must now be tested for purity, because of the herbicides, pesticides and other chemical contaminants that run through the soil when it rains and eventually enter those once protected sources.

Protected wells once provided the purest drinking water, but now private wells are contaminated, too. At one time, it was safe to drink from a stream, as long as the water was "running". Some governments strive to provide clean drinking water to its' citizens. But, because of the debate over whether or

Information is a good thing to have. But, sometimes individuals do not know how to use it. It is true that by-products of chlorination increase the risk of cancer by at least 30%. Respected health publications were at first leery of reporting this fact. They were afraid that the general public would protest the use of chlorine for disinfection and, if governments responded, tens of thousands would die as they did in Peru.

Because of the population and because of errors made by industry and humans, the purest drinking water is only available because of filtration technologies that remove all of the contaminants that MAN has caused. Chlorination or another effective disinfection process is necessary.

Due to waste from humans and animals, there will always be bacteria living in our waters that cause illness, disease and death. Without chlorine, we would still be in the dark ages. The effort to clean drinking water is not solely left up to the governments of this world. Individuals have a personal responsibility, as well.

Companies that sell filtration devices have been around for many years. Some of them provide their customers with the purest drinking water there is. But, you have to search for the right system, because as with all things, there will always be companies that prey on the unsuspecting, uneducated customer.

It is possible to have clean drinking water in your own kitchen. Just shop carefully and ignore the advertising hype.
